Daisy Cooper joins residents of Marshalswick in planting memorial tree for Queen Elizabeth II

“It’s always great to attend community events like this, and see people of all ages get involved.”

St Albans MP Daisy Cooper has joined residents and children of The Ridgeway in planting a tree in memory of Her Late Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II.

Organised by Hazel Spooner, the director of the Ridgeway Tenants Association, the event was originally planned to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, but following the Queen’s passing was replanned.

Among the children helping plant the trees were two children named Summer and Autumn.

Hazel said: “The children really enjoyed having their local MP there to see them plant the tree and give them a helping hand. Thanks to Daisy for taking the time to attend this event.”

Daisy added: “It’s always great to attend community events like this, and see people of all ages get involved. It’s a really lovely way to commemorate our late Queen. This will be a beautiful tree for Ridgeway residents and passers-by to admire.

“Well done to Hazel for organising – and to all the children who proved themselves to be very handy with a shovel!”
