Really interesting discussion with US Secretary John Kerry yesterday in my role as a Vice-Chair of the all-party parliamentary climate group.
He’s the US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate and was in London as part of his final visit to Europe ahead of leaving his post as US climate envoy and joining the campaign to re-elect Joe Biden.
We discussed ending subsidies to oil and gas companies, climate ambition and political leadership, COP outcomes, the role of private financing, grid infrastructure, the upcoming elections in the US UK and around the world, and the impact of The US Inflation Reduction Act.
I’ll keep working cross-party. The world cannot backtrack on the promise made by nearly 200 countries at COP28 to transition away from fossil fuels.
