Chancellor’s Spring Statement must “save our high streets”

Daisy is calling on the Chancellor to take urgent action to save St Albans high streets, ahead of tomorrow’s Spring Statement.

Daisy is urging the Chancellor to scrap the jobs tax before it comes into effect on 6th April, overhaul the broken business rates system, and rip away red tape holding back small businesses through a new and improved trade deal with the EU.

Daisy said:

“Here in St Albans, pubs, shops, restaurants, beauty salons and more are about to be hit with the hammerblow of a new jobs tax and bigger business rates bills.

“There are fairer ways of raising revenue without hammering growth and our high streets.

“Tomorrow’s Spring Statement is an opportunity for the Chancellor to make these changes, and save our local high streets. I’m urging her to take it.”
