Local pharmacies are an essential part of our health services. They provide walk-in high street access to wellbeing and self-care advice, the dispensing of medication, and testing and vaccination.
They can also play an important role in freeing up GP time from dealing with routine ailments so GPs can focus on the longer-term management and care of patients with complex needs.
As the Government continues to allow the closure of pharmacies across the UK, Liberal Democrats have been pushing for the preservation of these vital community resources.
Last week, Daisy Cooper met with local GPs at the Summerfield Health Centre in London Colney to discuss pharmacy provision in London Colney and the surrounding area which could support their practice. Daisy also met representatives from Assura (pictured) who invest in medical centres around the UK.
