Cancer patients need to be seen as quickly as possible to give them the best chance of survival. However, the Conservative Government has failed to meet its targets for people starting timely cancer treatment, every year since 2015.
The Liberal Democrats have a bold plan to boost cancer survival. We will:
Invest in 200 new radiotherapy machines
Invest in 3,400 more cancer nurses
Pass a new Cancer Research Act to coordinate cancer research funding
Plug the £1bn gap in cancer research funding over the next decade
Publish a 10-year cancer plan, focusing on increasing survival
