Daisy Cooper speaks out against sewage spillage

“Crabs full of oestrogen and anti-depressants … fish full of cocaine …..”

That’s what Good Morning Britain are reporting.

Why? That’s because new sewage dumping data has been published today and it’s worse than we thought….

Raw sewage discharges into rivers and seas doubled from 1.8 million hours in 2022 to 3.6 million in 2023.

That’s the equivalent of a single sewage overflow dumping non-stop for 411 years, and twice as much as the year before, putting ecosystems already at breaking point on the brink of collapse.

Lib Dems are calling on the government to declare a national environmental emergency and convene an urgent meeting of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) to review the impact of sewage spills on human health – for river and sea swimmers in particular.
