Job Details
Daisy Cooper MP is looking for an Economic Researcher to support her work as Treasury Spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats. The postholder will work closely with the Party’s Economy & Business Adviser, Business Engagement Manager, and wider Economic and Business team.
Background
It’s an especially exciting time to apply for this role. As the UK stands at a political and economic crossroads, and with growing public dissatisfaction with the status quo, the Liberal Democrats are uniquely positioned to shape the national debate on key economic issues — from the cost-of-living crisis to sustainable growth.
Working directly with Daisy Cooper, the Deputy Leader of the party and Treasury Spokesperson offers a rare opportunity to contribute to meaningful policy development at a time when fresh ideas and clear economic vision are desperately needed.
One of the most compelling reasons this is a timely opportunity is the renewed national focus on economic justice and responsible fiscal policy.
After years of economic turbulence – from the financial crisis, to Brexit, the COVID-19 pandemic, the Conservatives’ financial mismanagement, and Labour’s growth-suppressing Budget – the public are demanding credible alternatives.
The Liberal Democrats are poised to offer that alternative, promoting a fairer, more inclusive economy that supports both social welfare and wealth creation. As an economic researcher, you would play a key role in crafting and defending these ideas with rigorous analysis and clear communication.
Your contributions as a researcher could directly influence and help shape debates that define the political landscape in the coming years.
In short, this is a critical and dynamic time to join the Liberal Democrats as an economic researcher. The role offers the chance to be part of a movement that is reimagining the UK’s economic future – with fairness, opportunity, and sustainability at its core – and to work alongside one of the most energetic and forward-thinking MPs in Westminster.
